In 2006, the Association of Adult Literacy Professional Developers identified three key priorities for the organization upon which to focus its efforts, and to build a multi-year strategic plan to accomplish those priorities. The AALPD membership voted on options and the top three options with the most votes became the AALPD Priorities.

Priority #1: Develop quality standards for professional development.

Priority #2: Develop a web-based resource of research in professional development.

Priority #3: Advocate for funding for professional development. 

AALPD plans to consult with board and membership about revisiting these priorities.
