One of AALPD's policy recommendations is that "all teachers new to adult education should have an orientation to the field of adult basic education within at least the first six months of their teaching." New teachers and staff come to adult education with varied backgrounds--this diversity of experience is one of the great strengths of adult education but it also suggests there is a need to provide training to those new to the field.
Callie Hazan, AALPD Board Secretary, will share the staff induction model used by Title II adult education agencies in the state of Pennsylvania. The model includes on-demand modules, courses, and field observation. Callie will share the components of staff induction as well as the tools and resources used to guide agencies through the process and track completion for new staff. The presentation will follow a brief discussion of AALPD's research initiative. The presentation will last approximately 30 minutes, with time for questions. The monthly Board meeting will follow the webinar. Click here for meeting information.
