Destiny Simpson and David J. Rosen, are co-authors of the Guide for Design and Implementation of Hybrid–Flexible (HyFlex) Models in Adult Education. In this session they introduce the HyFlex model, describe its benefits, provide examples of how it is used in adult foundational education (our field), provide links to useful HyFlex resources and PD, and answer questions about how HyFlex is used in our field.

The November AALPD webinar explored the proven BRIDGE framework for navigating gatekeepers, discover four strategic channels for finding partnership-ready employers, and master the business language that positions your program as a workforce solution rather than an education service. The session included a toolkit which includes employer research templates, gatekeeper navigation scripts, ROI calculators, and a 30-day action plan to build sustainable partnerships that expand from pilot programs to multi-year contracts.

Members of AALPD came together last week to share fresh, replicable professional development ideas. Building on our COABE pre-conference session on transference of learning, the webinar highlighted microlearning, coaching, and professional learning communities. Several states shared how they are already putting these ideas into practice or making plans to do so.
The conversation focused on small but powerful shifts rather than sweeping changes, and participants shared new approaches they are trying in their own contexts. It was a great way to kick off the new fiscal year, and a reminder that AALPD is a community where we continue to learn with and from one another.
