Community Learning Partners - A Session on Non-Linear Learning in PD Friday, June 13, 2025, 1:00 - 2:00 PM ET Presented by: Joey Lehrman and Christin Smith
This session explores a model for professional development that’s non-linear, flexible, and grounded in educator agency. Instead of prescribing a fixed path, this approach creates space for educators to choose how and where they engage—based on their own goals, curiosity, and unique classroom context. The design emphasizes sustained cohorts, peer learning, and competency-based progress, with multiple entry points and time built in for application, reflection, and revision. Rather than offering a set of best practices, the model aims to create space for shared inquiry, experimentation, and ongoing growth.
We’ve piloted this strategy at the local, state, and national level, and in this session, we’ll share lessons learned, highlight early outcomes, and offer a tour of the cohort model in action. Join us to explore the design, reflect on what we’re learning so far, and consider how this kind of structure may (or may not) support lifelong learning for adult educators in the digital age.
